Rate-Switching Timeline and Process
January 1 - March 1
If you wish to switch gas rates, the process for doing so begins several months in advance. Between January 1 and March 1, you will need to complete a Notification of Intent to Switch Natural Gas Rate Schedules form and send it to WPS. This first step in the rate-switching process, and it notifies us of your intentions. The actual switch will occur the following November 1.
November 1
Before the November 1 switch date, several addition forms are needed to complete the rate-switching process:
- Agent Verification Agreement: you should complete this form with your gas marketer or broker. It tells us who your marketer or broker is, who we should notify if there is a gas constraint (you, your marketer or broker, or both), who has permission to access your information, and where your bill should be sent.
- Electric Interruption/Gas Constraint Notification Form: This form indicates which individual(s) at your company or your marketer's company should be notified if there is a gas constraint or interruption. Your WPS account executive will meet with you personally to complete this form.
- Gas Transportation Contract: A gas transportation contract is required for all customers who transport gas to our system. Your WPS account executive will meet with you personally to complete this contract.
- Online Energy Information System Online Profile Request Form: After completing this form, you will gain access to the WPS online system for gas transportation customers and their marketers. You'll be able to view your hourly natural gas use over a secure connection.
