Renewable Energy & The Environment
At WPS, we're creating energy solutions for a sustainable tomorrow. Our environmental vision and principles guide our everyday efforts.
- Hydroelectric Power
Hydro power was the very first renewable resource WPS used to produce electricity — beginning in 1910. We still use it today. Learn about our hydroelectric power plants and the history of one of our oldest hydro dams. Share an Emmy Award-Winning Into the Outdoors video, which explains how hydro power works. - Solar Power
Why not use the sun's energy to help us right here on earth? The WPS solar curriculum is one of our most popular resources for teachers. It includes a Solar Power Lesson Plan, an Electromagnetic Spectrum Lesson Plan and our SolarWise® for Schools program. You can also share an Emmy Award-Winning Into the Outdoors video with your kids, to show how solar power works. - Wind Power
WPS has three wind farms that generate electricity for our customers. - Wildlife Cams
It may be surprising, but wildlife can be attracted to utility facilities — fish near our hydroelectric dams, and Peregrine falcons near our tall power plants. Depending on the time of year, you can view our Fish Cam or Peregrine Falcon Cam to see what they're up to.
