Employee Volunteers
WPS employees are known for giving their time to help others. As you can see from the employees' own words, they also receive much in return.
Habitat for Humanity Volunteers
Jeannette Schwartz, WPS Drafter
"Being a volunteer on a Habitat home gives me a very rewarding feeling in my heart. Knowing that by sharing my time and talents, I contribute to provide reasonable housing for very deserving families in the area.
It's wonderful to meet the families and share time and efforts with fellow employees. In turn, it builds employee and community bonds that are priceless!"
Neil Hermus, WPS Superintendent of Distribution-Operation Center
"I've been volunteering for Habitat for Humanity since 2005 and will serve as the site leader for the WPS build. It is a great feeling to help a deserving family realize the dream of home ownership through our efforts, as we give back for all the blessings we have experienced in our own lives."
"Don't be intimidated by the prospect of building a home. Habitat staff will have several experienced crew leaders on the job site that are willing to teach volunteers of all ability levels and ensure safe working conditions. This is a great opportunity to learn new construction skills or enhance existing skills while providing basic shelter for a willing partner family."
Big Brothers/Big Sisters Volunteer
Mark Hannon, WPS Account Executive, Menominee, Michigan
"Big Brothers/Big Sisters identifies kids with needs. My little brother, Jake, has all sisters at home. When we get together, we play games, do schoolwork and read. I've always been interested in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. This was my chance to get started. We have fun, and Jake is a great kid."
