High Falls was built amid rugged terrain, and depended heavily on hand labor.
In 1901, it took 32 work horses hitched to one wagon and a 15-man crew seven days to haul one electric transformer to the hydro location.
High Falls is an excellent example of an early concrete hydroelectric dam. It was built during an era of great expansion and promotion of electric power.
