This Farm Rewiring Program offers more financial assistance than any previous Public Service Rewiring Program and is the most supportive rewiring program that you'll find in Wisconsin.
Public Service will pay 100% of the first $1,000 of costs, which should cover the cost of the inspection. Next, Public Service will pay 50% of the remaining costs up to a maximum grant of $10,000 (including the initial $1,000). You may choose to finance your portion of the costs, up to $15,000, through Public Service at a 3% rate of interest for five years.
Let's use a $25,000 rewiring project as an example. Public Service will pay 100% of the first $1,000, which should cover the cost of the inspection and time associated with bids. Next, the utility will pay 50% of the $24,000 balance, up to a total grant of $10,000. All in all, you are responsible for $15,000,* which you can choose to finance through Public Service at 3% interest for up to five years. Here, Public Service will pay the maximum $10,000.
| $25,000.00 | (Total cost of rewiring project) |
| – 1,000.00 | (Public Service pays 100% of the first $1,000) |
| $24,000.00 | |
| – 9,000.00 | (Public Service pays 50% of balance up to a maximum $10,000 grant) |
| $15,000.00 | (Amount you pay. May be financed through Public Service at 3% for up to five years) |
A second example involves a $6,000 project. Public Service will pay 100% of the first $1,000 and split the $5,000 balance with you 50/50. You are responsible for $2,500, which you can finance at 3% interest for up to five years. Here, Public Service will pay a total of $3,500.
| $6,000.00 | (Total cost of rewiring project) |
| – 1,000.00 | (Public Service pays 100% of the first $1,000) |
| $5,000.00 | |
| – 2,500.00 | (Public Service pays 50% of balance up to a maximum $10,000 grant) |
| $2,500.00 | (Amount you pay. May be financed through Public Service at 3% for up to five years) |
* You can finance a maximum of $15,000 through Public Service.
