The Wayne J. Peterson Memorial Scholarship
Purpose
This scholarship was established in honor of Wayne's outstanding contributions
to the community, his instrumental role at Wisconsin Public Service, and his
commitment to the education of young people.
Please note: Applicants that have completed an application for the
College Scholarship and are planning to attend Marquette University or St.
Norbert College and major in Engineering or Business will also automatically be
considered for the Wayne J. Peterson scholarship and need make no further
application.
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be the son/daughter of a customer with a primary residence in Wisconsin Public
Service Corporation or Upper Peninsula Power Company territory, or the son/daughter
of a Wisconsin Public Service or UPPCO employee.
- Attend Marquette University or St. Norbert College, majoring in Engineering or
Business.
- Complete their high school graduation requirements in the 2008-2009 academic
year.
- Enter college by September 2009.
- Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Awards
- This scholarship is a one-time $2,000 award (non-renewable). Wisconsin Public Service
Foundation, Inc. will award one Wayne J. Peterson Scholarship until 2012.
- Students may accept other scholarship awards; however, all awards must be reported
to Scholarship Assessment Service.
How to Apply
Applicants for this scholarship must:
- Complete the online application for the College
Scholarship.
- Indicate their interest in attending Marquette University or St. Norbert
College.
- Indicate their interest in a business or engineering major.
Notification
The recipient will be notified beginning in April and the scholarship award will
become effective when the student is enrolled in college.
The scholarship award will be sent directly to the college and will be credited to
the recipient's account.
If a scholarship recipient's studies are interrupted by illness, accident or other
extenuating circumstances, a student can request that the scholarship be held for later
use.
