Winners of the naming contest and their families were invited to attend and participate in the banding of the chicks, which was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. They had their photograph taken with the falcon chicks and their classroom also received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Birds of Prey exhibit at the Wildlife Sanctuary.
Patriot's Pride - submitted by Trevor Winkel, kindergartener at Suamico Elementary School. Trevor chose the name because he is proud of his country and of the falcons.
Faith - submitted by Alec Ingold, 4th grader at Suamico Elementary School. Alec chose the name because we need to have faith that the Peregrine falcons will come off the endangered list.
Pulligrine - submitted by Melissa Hill, 5th grader at Kennedy Elementary School. Melissa chose the name because it is a combination of the Pulliam Power Plant and Peregrine.
'Akos - submitted by Cole Breidenbach, 6th grader at Notre Dame Middle School of De Pere. Cole chose the name because it means "white falcon" in the Hungarian language and Hungary is close to Africa, where the falcons are believed to have come from.
Virginia - submitted by Jacqueline Sehring, 7th grader at Notre Dame Middle School of De Pere. Jacqueline chose the name to honor and remember all the students who were killed at Virginia Tech.
