Name the Falcon Chicks Contest 2008 Winners
Winners of the naming contest and their families were invited to attend and participate in the banding of the chicks, which was held on Saturday, May 24, 2008. They had their photograph taken with the falcon chicks and their classroom also received a behind-the-scenes tour of the Birds of Prey exhibit at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Jocasta - submitted by Lizzy LeMere, a 5th grader at Hillcrest Elementary School in Pulaski. LeMere chose the name because it was the name of a gem in a story she is reading.
- Eco - submitted by Kyle Wiegert, a 7th grader at Notre Dame Middle School in De Pere. Wiegert's entry was named to save the environment.
- Aldo - submitted by Kiely Kelly, a 4th grader at Holy Cross School, Bay Settlement. Kelly's entry was named after a small chick she had that chirped.
May 24, 2008 - Greg Septon, President of the Wisconsin Peregrine Trust, logs vital information as the banding process begins.
May 24,2008 - The new baby Peregrine is banded with a band to track them over their lifespan.
May 24, 2008 - Bander Greg Septon works with a local elementary school student that named the Peregrine chick and was rewarded by partaking in the banding process.
May 24, 2008 - Aldo Eco and Jocasta pose for a few family photos before returning to their nesting box high on top of the Pulliam Power Plant.
May 24, 2008 - Greg Septon and the Peregrine Chick Naming contest winner get set to return Jocasta and Aldo Eco to their nesting box where their mother and father are waiting.
