Hydroelectric Plants

Hydro power produces electricity by harnessing the energy of falling water. The force of the falling water turns a water turbine which turns a generator where electricity is produced.

A dam backs up water thus creating a deeper reservoir and a higher fall of water. The reservoir, then, is a form of stored energy which is released when the water turns the turbine.

Hydroelectric Plants

Wisconsin Public Service currently owns much of the land near its hydroelectric dams.
