The Weston 4 generator has arrived by rail at the Weston site. The 550-megawatt electrical generator was manufactured by Toshiba in Yokohama, Japan. It was shipped on February 1, 2006 and finally arrived at the Weston site on April 14, 2006.
Workers ensure everything is in perfect balance before the large generator is lowered onto the large flatbed trailer.
The Weston 4 electrical generator weighs in at 330-tons and is as big as a house.
A sophisticated system of hydraulics is used for lifting and securing the large generator on the trailer. The generator will be trucked a short distance to a rail road terminal where it will be loaded on a flatbed rail car for the trip to the Weston site.
