Gary Cole was the original project manager of the Weston 4 project and died of cancer in 2004. In an ongoing effort to honor and support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society on Gary's behalf, the "4th Annual Weston 4 Gary Cole Memorial Golf Outing" took place on Friday, June 15, 2007 in Wausau, WI.
The event's fundraising efforts surpassed last year's by an amazing 28%, with contributions totaling $21,931 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This was accomplished by collecting hole sponsorships from 20 Corporate Sponsors, donations of raffle prizes from 22 Weston 4 contractors and vendors, and golfer contributions from the 115 golf participants in this years event.
In the 4 years the outing has existed, contribution totals of $51,097 have been given to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The following are a few examples of how contributions will be applied:
The over $50,000 raised in the four years of this event has made a tangible difference in the lives of patients in Wisconsin. Those who contributed to the success of the day have made a significant impact on blood cancer patients that live in the Northeast and Central regions of Wisconsin.
