Reading My Meter
Reading your electric or natural gas meter is pretty easy. The dials, which look like little clocks, alternately run clockwise and counterclockwise. Reading from left to right, just write down the last number the needle has passed. The difference between the new reading and the last one is your monthly energy use.

Automated Meter Reading
WPS uses Automated Meter Reading in all the communities we serve. The meters feature a special transmitting device that sends your monthly meter reading over our power lines to a central computer in Green Bay. This has improved meter reading accuracy and significantly reduced estimated readings.
Estimated Readings
There are times when we may be unable to read your meter. At these times, we may need to estimate your bill, based on past use and recent weather conditions. Any differences between the estimated reading and your actual use will be made up at your next meter reading.
