Systems 20kW or less

Installation steps for customer-owned generation agreements are determined by size. Systems with a capacity of 20 kilowatts (kW) or less are typical for homes and smaller businesses.

Owner and installer responsibilities

  • Maintain liability insurance (equal to or greater than amounts indicated in PSC 119) or prove financial responsibility by another means agreeable to us.
  • Notify us if a material modification is made to the generation facility at any time during or after the installation process. Material modifications are modifications that change the maximum electrical output of a facility or change the interconnection equipment, including:
    • Changing from certified to noncertified devices.
    • Replacing a component with one of different functionality or UL listing.
  • Properly install, operate and maintain specified protective devices.
