Systems greater than 20kW

Installation steps for customer-owned generation agreements are determined by size. Systems with a capacity greater than 20 kilowatts (kW) are typical for large business and agriculture.

Owner and installer responsibilities

  • Design, install, operate and maintain any generation system installed.
  • Follow interconnection rules from Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) and meet all WPS tariff requirements, applicable laws and regulations (local, state and federal).
  • Maintain liability insurance (equal to or greater than amounts indicated in PSC 119) or prove financial responsibility by another means agreeable to us.
  • Notify us if a material modification is made to the generation facility at any time during or after the installation process. Material modifications are any modifications that change the maximum electrical output of a facility or change the interconnection equipment, including:
    • Changing from certified to noncertified devices.
    • Replacing a component with a component of different functionality or UL listing.
  • Properly install, operate and maintain specified protective devices.
  • Obtain authorizations, permits and licenses required for construction and operation of the generating facilities at your expense.
  • Complete the steps for interconnection.
